Jones and Kistner Place Third in SLIAC Individual Tournament

ST. LOUIS The womens tennis team competed over the weekend at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference individual tournament. Headlining Greenvilles achievements were the third place finishes of Nathalia Jones and Lisa Kistner in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

The first round started for Greenville with four of its nine flight representatives winning their first round match.

Jamie Harling topped Natalie Wetterauer of Eureka in a tiebreaker with scores of 4-6, 6-2, 10-2, and she teamed with Katherine Maurer to defeat Amanda Orzechowski and Maggie Sheraden of Blackburn 8-3 in No. 1 doubles. Jones and Kistner defeated Abbey Eccher of Webster and Megan Schmittnel of Fontbonne in straight sets in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

In the semifinal round of No. 5 singles, Jones pushed Amy Osborn of Westminster to a second set tiebreaker before succumbing 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

In the third place matches, Jones topped Mallory Cummings of Blackburn 6-4, 6-1, and Lisa Kistner defeated Amelia Kirby of Blackburn 6-3, 6-1.

Harling finished fourth in No. 1 singles, and she partnered with Maurer to take the fourth place honor in No. 1 doubles.

The Lady Panthers (4-9) are preparing for a match against Lewis and Clark Community College on Thursday, April 28, before traveling to St. Louis to face Principia in the first round of the SLIAC team tournament on Saturday, April 30.
