Published: April 13, 2021

Jake Schenk has been selected as Greenville'snext defensive coordinator. Schenk is a native of Smith Center, Kan., and is a graduateof Tabor College.

At Tabor, Schenk started at linebacker for four years and was a four-time all-KCAC player. He led the team in tackles all four years and in his senior year helped lead the Bluejays to an 11-1 record, a conference championship, and a second round appearance in the NAIA national playoffs finishing #6 in the nation.

As a senior, he was named KCAC co-defensive player of the year and earned NAIA first-team All-American honors playing for the Bluejay defense. As important, he earned the NAIA's Champion of Character Award in his junior and senior years. Today, Schenk still holds Tabor College records for total tackles, solo tackles, and tackles for loss.

After graduating in 2006 with bachelors degrees in physical education and Biblical/religious studies, he coached outside linebackers at Greenville College. While coaching outside linebackers at Greenville, Schenk helped J.R. Harriel lead the conference in tackles, tackles for loss, sacks and forced fumbles.

In the spring of 2007, Schenk participated in TREK, a six-month missions program, which included three months in Egypt. He served as a youth pastor and K-Life area director in Norman, Okla., in 2008 and then spent the last two years coaching linebackers at his alma mater Tabor College.

Schenk and his wife, Audra, are very excited to join Greenville community and look forward to what God has planned for them at Greenville College under Coach Walker's leadership.
