Greenville College Announces Choir's Spring 2017 Concert Season

Published: April 13, 2021

Greenville College is pleased to announce the Greenville College Choirs concert itinerary for Spring 2017. Founded in 1927 by Robert Woods, the choir is widely renowned for performing sacred choral music of the highest quality.

In celebration of the choirs 90th anniversary year, a newly commissioned work by acclaimed Philadelphia composer Kile Smith will be premiered.

During March, the Greenville College Choir will perform in St. Louis and take a 10-day concert tour to the Eastern United States with stops in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. The choir presents a home concert at Greenville Free Methodist Church on Sunday, March 26. The choir will also join forces with The Factory Theater on May 5 and 6 performances of Meridith Willsons classic Broadway show The Music Man.

In the last several years, the choir has toured Ireland and been invited to perform with the Kingsbury Ensemble (one of the Midwests premier professional early music ensembles), as well as performing at the Illinois Music Educators Conference and the American Choral Directors Associations Central Division Convention. The choir regularly joins with the Greenville Choral Union for concerts of larger choral-orchestral works such as Bachs Magnificat, Mozarts Requiem, and the annual Christmas performance of Handels Messiah.

The Greenville College Choirs tour program includes music from Germany, France, Russia, England, and America. The choirs Spring 2017 concert schedule includes the following performances:
