Football slowed by Saints in regular season finale

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The football team's season concluded Saturday with a 40-19 loss to St. Scholastica on Senior Day. Prior to the game, the EMAP football program sent off 10 seniors.

Greenville held the upper edge in total offense as they outgained St. Scholastica by a 444-297 margin, but four turnovers served as the difference as Greenville lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions.

St. Scholastica took a 20-6 lead to the halftime intermission as they earned touchdowns on back to back possessions at the end of the first quarter and start of the second quarter.

Greenville got on the scoreboard when Corbin Quinonez hauled in a 13 yard pass from Jacob Battaglia, but the Saints answered right back with a kickoff return touchdown.

The Saints put two more touchdowns on the board in the third quarter.

Greenville's Jacob Stull scored the first of two touchdowns with 11:15 remaining in the game, but St. Scholastica answered right back with a touchdown of their own.

Stull closed his senior season with a 10 yard touchdown run with four minutes remaining in the game.

The Panther offense was led by Stull, who had 37 carries for 211 yards and two touchdowns.

Battaglia completed nine-of-24 passes for 153 yards and two interceptions.

Robert Deering ended his Panther career with nine and half tackles, including one sack.

The Panthers wrapped up their season with an overall record of 3-7 and a 3-6 mark in UMAC action.
