ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- The football team entered hostile territory with a Crown Homecoming crowd hoping for an upset, but the Panthers held on for a 21-20 win on Saturday.

The first quarter was a chess match as both teams went scoreless.

In the second quarter, after a three and out by Greenville, Crown would embark on the first scoring drive of the day, going 51 yards on 12 plays as Josh Edlund capitalized with a seven yard scoring run with 2:35 left in the half.

In the third quarter, Greenville would tie the game at 7-7 on the first possession. Shawn McKnight completed the six play, 73 yard drive with a three yard touchdown run, and Josh Frewin made the extra point attempt. Crown then completed a seven minute drive as Duran Zachery gave Crown the lead with a five yard touchdown run to take a seven point lead into the final quarter.

Greenville tied the game early in the fourth quarter when quarterback Brendan Chambers scored on a 22 yard touchdown run. Then with just over four minutes to go in the game, Greenville took the lead when Carson Guzman caught a five yard touchdown pass from Chambers. Crown scored on the ensuing kickoff but missed the extra point attempt to give Greenville a one-point win.

Chambers ran the ball 14 times for 130 yards and completed 11-of-19 passes for 169 yards. He scored a rushing touchdown and passed for a score. Nicholas Newton was on the receiving end of five Chambers' passes as he earned 124 yards.

The Panthers defensive efforts were headlined by Robert Deering with 12 tackles. Joey Silva added 11 tackles. Greenville caught Crown for six tackles for a loss of yards, including three quarterback sacks.

The Panthers (5-0, 4-0 UMAC) travel to MacMurray next Saturday for another conference matchup at 1 p.m.
