Published: April 13, 2021

ELSAH, Ill. Freshman pitcher Tyler Pilcher picked up his third decision of the season on Friday night, tossing a seven inning, two hit gem that helped propel GC baseball past Principia 10-1 in Elsah.

Pilcher (3-0) registered a season high 11 strikeouts while allowing no earned runs in his seven-frame campaign. The newcomer battled tough through three scoreless innings until the GC offense came alive with seven runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth. Greenville would allow one run in the eighth but added an insurance tally in the ninth to seal the 10-1 win.

Freshman Ryan Smith led the Black & Orange offensively, contributing a two-for-two effort with a run and RBI. Sophomore outfielder Jared Souhrada also posted a nice 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and an RBI.

Fridays convincing win moves Greenville College baseball to 9-3 in the SLIAC and 9-14 overall in 2012. Greenville will play Principia at home in a double-header on Monday, April 16 and make up the twinbill that was regularly scheduled for Saturday.
