Baseball records 7-4 win over Blackburn

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The baseball team got a 3-for-3 night from Nate Miller as the Panthers gained a 7-4 victory over Blackburn on Friday.

Miller singled in the third and fifth innings and tripled in the sixth inning.

The Panthers relied on Ryan Strohm to eat up innings en route to the win. Strohm allowed two earned runs, six hits and one walk while striking out five over seven innings of work.

Greenville took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Mike Hardin and Miller both stole home as parts of double steals.

Greenville added to their advantage in the bottom of the fifth when Travis Ralls came up with a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded.

Blackburn scored one run in the top of the sixth to cut its deficit to two.

The Panthers quickly matched Blackburn's run with a four-run inning of their own in the sixth. The Panthers scored on a sacrifice fly by Danny Strohm and a three-run triple by Miller.

One run in the top of the seventh helped Blackburn close its deficit to 7-2.

Two Blackburn runs crossed the plate in the top half of the eighth, making the score 7-4.

Jason Collingwood picked up the save as he worked around a double in the ninth inning.

The Panthers improved to 15-18 (10-6 SLIAC). They continue their three-game set with a doubleheader at Blackburn on Saturday.
