Baseball Comes Away With Two SLIAC Wins

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The GC College Baseball team redeemed themselves from last night's loss to Spalding with two wins today over the Eagles; 6-3 and 18-9.

In their first game, the Panthers came away with the 6-3 win after scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth. Ryan Smith tripled and Dylan Goldsmith hit a single in the second inning to put GC up 2-0. Spalding came back in the third inning to tie the game 2-2. Spalding hit a home run in the top of the sixth, but GC answered right away. Kenny Trager and Smith each hit a double and Greenville managed to score 4 runs in teh inning, to bring the gae to its final score of 6-3. Nick Bifano earned the win on the mound for GC, facing 5 batters and allowing just 1 hit. Tyler Mitchell pitched 5.1 innings for the Panthers, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs.

The second game of the day went just as well for Greenville, with the Panthers getting a huge 18-9 victory. Kenny Trager, Hunter Bryan, and Smith each hit one home-run, Mitchell Cernek recorded a triple, and Goldsmith, Dalton McFarland, Tim Osborne, and Smith each hit a double for GC. Bifano, Dylan Bone, and Scott Voyles shared the mound for Greenville, with Voyles being credited with the win.

Greenville's record is now 8-11 (5-5 SLIAC). The team will take the field again on Tuesday, April 9, with a double header against Webster.
