WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The baseball team resumed their seven game Florida trip after a day off with a 14-4 loss to Ripon on Thursday. Kenny Trager posted two hits in three at-bats to lead Greenville's offense.

The Panthers opened with a 2-0 first inning lead on Jared Massengill's two-run home run. It did not take Ripon's bats long to reach Greenville starting pitcher Tyler Mitchell with a four-run first inning.

GC cut Ripon's lead to 4-3 in the top of the third when Trager singled to the shortstop and the shortstop's error allowed Dylan Goldsmith to score.

Ripon tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before exploding for a five-run sixth inning and a three-run seventh inning to give them a 10-run advantage that ended the game. The Panthers scored their final run in the top of the seventh when Goldsmith doubled to score Cole Lawson.

Mitchell took the loss, giving up 10 runs on 11 hits in 5.1 innings. He struck out two and walked six.

The Panthers (1-8) return to action Friday against Edgewood in a doubleheader that begins at 9 a.m. CT.
