Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill.- Are you a fan of Christian music? On May 3-4, 2013, Greenville College will host AgapeFest 2013. The festival will be held at the Bond County Fairgrounds in Greenville, Ill., where music fans of all ages can come and enjoy some of the genre's most popular artists.

Some of the best known artists that will perform on the AgapeFest main stage this year include Owl City, Hawk Nelson, Francesca Battistelli, Kutless, Family Force 5, Luminate, Audio Adrenaline, Group 1 Crew, The Afters, Seventh Day Slumber, and Ashes Remain, just to name a few. A complete list of artists can be found on www.agapefest.com.

AgapeFest is the only Christian Festival Association event in Illinois or the St. Louis region. It is also the nation's only student-led Christian music festival of its size. AgapeFest provides Greenville College students with the unique opportunity to gain practical experience in running a music festival. Students plan and implement every aspect of the festival, from contacting and booking bands to creating media pieces and promoting the festival.

"As a college student, the opportunity to run an event such as AgapeFest is an incredible gift and responsibility," explains Amber Featherston, the director of AgapeFest 2013. "Every year over 300 students work to put on the two-day music festival where over 4,000 festival goers will hear not only some great music but also the word of Christ! I have worked on AgapeFest since my freshman year, and now, as a senior I have the amazing joy of seeing every aspect of the festival from start to finish."

As the area's only Christian music festival, AgapeFest seeks to impact festivalgoers and create memorable experiences by glorifying God and furthering the Kingdom of Christ through music, service, and fellowship.

AgapeFest is proud to feature The Madison Letter - a band that got its start at Greenville College. Its members have been involved in AgapeFest for three years and will be playing on the festival's main stage on Saturday.

"We first got involved with AgapeFest in the spring of 2010 when we tried out for the festival's battle of the bands, in which we placed second," band member Clayton Jones explained. "And we've been asked back every year since then."

The Madison Letter was recently nominated for mtvU's Chevrolet Sonic College Artist Woody Award among three other artists representing schools like Belmont University and New York University. The Madison Letter is a great success story for Greenville, and their increasing popularity proves that AgapeFest is a great place to enjoy popular artists and discover up-and-coming bands.

Tickets for AgapeFest 2013 can be purchased on the website. If you have questions about the festival, feel free to call 618-664-1861 or e-mail the staff at info@agapefest.com.
