Job Description

Full time position. The Board of Directors of Holy Family Ministries is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Principal of Holy Family School (3415 W. Arthington, Chicago, IL). The principal will oversee the school’s day-to-day operations, supervise its staff and implement and administer school-related policies established by the Board of Education of Holy Family School. Candidates for the position of Principal will possess the following desired characteristics and knowledge, skills and abilities. Desired Characteristics: Ability to develop curriculum in consultation with the faculty and in compliance with the Common Core Standards for K-8 education. Clearly and effectively communicate with students, staff, parents, and organization supporters. Cooperate and assist in all efforts to garner support for Holy Family School. Develop and coordinate a student assessment plan that may include national-nor-based tests and/or standardized tests, local tests, and/or portfolio assessment. Develop and implement an on-going student program which promotes good conduct, good citizenship, civility, and emphasizes personal responsibility. Effectively work as a team member in a faith-based institution. Encourage participation from all stakeholders in programs and activities. Facilitate the development of a staff development program that supports curriculum and instruction including such topics as curriculum improvement and instructional skills. Foster communication and collaboration among faculty, staff, parents, volunteers and students to support organization goals. Hire, supervise, and monitor teaching staff. Lead and foster a positive and cooperative team environment to inspire and empower. Monitor student council. Motivate individuals of all ages and experiences to achieve his or her highest potential. Plan, implement, and coordinate summer school programming designed to address the academic needs of poor performing or failing students. Possess a genuine passion and drive for the mission and serve as a faith-based leader with integrity and positivity. Represent the organization to the public and foster a good relationship and image for HFM within the organization to staff, students, parents, supports, and the general public. Serve as an instructional leader to guide classroom instruction and extra-curricular programs to ensure that student achievement is maximized. Supervise volunteers serving at Holy Family School. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in administration or curriculum and instruction preferred. Illinois Type 75 General Administrative Certificate or equivalent preferred. Two years administrative experience preferred. Classroom teaching experience, preferably in a mission-based educational setting. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational management skills.No phone calls, please.
