Job Description

Full time position. Qualifications: A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing personal relationship with Him. A dependence on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide worship. An enthusiastic presence for leading worship rather than just playing and singing songs. Commitment to moral purity. Commitment to the Vision, Values and Strategies of FUMC. Relational skills that enable coordination and leadership of a team of musicians. Contemporary Worship Service Duties: Personally lead worship every Sunday at the 9:30 contemporary service. Other tasks that may relate to Sunday morning contemporary worship (Example: stage set up). Recruit, train and rehearse and equip both instrumental and vocal members of the 9:30 praise team. Coordinate and lead weekly practices of praise team. Assist the praise team in spiritual growth as well as musical growth. Choose the worship songs for the contemporary worship service. Post new songs on YouTube or church website so congregation can begin to learn them. Communicate song lyrics and other video screen information to the sound/video team. Communicate bulletin information to office staff. Participate in weekly worship planning and prayer with the pastor(s). Serve as staff representative on the Worship Arts Council and work with them to schedule drama, puppets and other worship elements into the contemporary service. Recruit and coordinate a Contemporary Worship Planning Team to get honest feedback and insight on how to make worship service better. Assign someone to act as leader as needed in the absence of the Contemporary Worship Leader. Youth Worship Duties: In coordination with Youth Coordinator, lead worship for Sunday night Quake meetings. Recruit, train, rehearse and equip the Youth Worship Team consisting of singers and instrumentalists for these services. Participate in two retreats: Fall Retreat (Sept/Oct) and Confirmation Retreat (March) each being 3 weekend days, 2 nights at Heartland Retreat Center. Assist the guest band at Transformation Zone. Evenings for one week in the summer plus advance coordination. Sound/Video Technology Duties: Coordinate and facilitate training of members of sound/video teams. Oversee upgrades, maintenance and purchase of sound/video equipment.
