Ayers Field Station - Reserve

At present, the Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences continues to work on the development of the Field Station into an integral part of the Environmental Biology major as well as a facility to be used more widely within the College and the broader community.

Current and past uses of the Field Station include:

  • Winter Ornithology classes at the White Center.
  • Botany, Ecology and Environmental Science classes are making increased use of the Field Station since the construction of the White Center, making the entire Field Station readily available for their field studies.
  • The Astronomy course, a night class, meets at the White Center for class sessions, giving them the option of moving easily to the Observatory on nights that the sky is clear.
  • Annual Earth and Sky Day at the White Center and Winslow Observatory. This event is open to the public and will be advertised in the local newspaper and to area Audubon clubs.
  • Mathematics and science division potluck meals and meetings.
  • College cabinet retreats
  • Staff picnics

  • Departmental retreats
  • Hay rides
