GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The GC women could not top SLIAC powerhouse Principia and, despite a first half lead, fell 2-1.
The first half went well for the home team, with GC maintaining possession and getting the first goal of the game. Kelsey Panzau scored Greenville's lone goal in the 23rd minute of the game when she shot a rocket into the top left corner of the net. Claire Conwell-Vargas was credited with the assist. Principia's Gabriela Martin put the ball in the net with just 1:19 left in the half to bring the score to 1-1 before halftime.
The second half started with back-and-forth action and remained close until Kelly DeWindt scored for Principia in the 74th minute of the game to bring the score to 2-1 where it would stay until the final whistle blew.
This Conference loss gives the Lady Panthers a record of 6-7-1 (2-2 SLIAC). They travel to Eureka on Wednesday, Oct. 17 to take on the Red Devils in hopes of getting a SLIAC win.
