Baseball Rallies But Topped 10-6 by St. Norbert

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The baseball team came from behind but could not complete the rally as they continued their seven game Florida trip with a 10-6 loss against St. Norbert on Tuesday.

The Panthers struck first, reaching St. Norbert for a first inning run when Cole Lawson led of with a bunt single, stole second base, went to third on a ground ball, and scored on David Massengill's sacrifice fly.

The Knights plated four runners in the top of the fourth, but Greenville answered by manufacturing a run of their own in the fourth.  Adam Wallace singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, reached third on a groundout, and ran home on Lawson's sacrifice fly.

After allowing the Knights to push their lead back to three, the Panthers scored twice in the bottom of the sixth.  Hunter Bryan beat out a grounder to third and scored when Adam Wallace tripled.  Wallace later gave Greenville a run when he scored on a wild pitch.

St. Norbert pushed across a run in the top of the sixth, but Greenville tied up the game with two runs in the bottom of seventh on Cole Lawson's two-run triple.  The triple plated Adam Wallace and Cody Pilcher.  Wallace singled in the inning and advanced to third when the pitcher threw away Tyler Pilcher's comebacker to the mound.

The Panthers adverted disaster in the top of the eighth when reliever Scott Voyles escaped a bases-loaded one out jam by getting the Knights to ground into an inning-ending double play.

Greenville couldn't hold off the Knights who tallied four runs in the top of the ninth to win the game.

The Panthers (1-7) return to action Thursday against Ripon in a single game at Noon CT.
