ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The GC Men's Basketball team lost 90-74 to the Fontbonne Griffins in their last game of the season. Simon Martin led the team, with 16 points and 8 rebounds in the game,
Martin, a senior center, recorded the most points and rebounds for Greenville. Alex Mumphard also contributed to the Panther offense, adding 15 points for GC. Defensively, senior, Ben Giertz was a leader, with 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
GC kept the Griffins close for the first half, heading into the locker room down by just 5 points with a score of 37-32. Unfortunately, Fontbonne returned to the court ready to play and outscored the Panthers 53-42 in the second half. The final score came to 90-74, Fontbonne.
Jared Greenlee and Darius Rucker led the Griffins, scoring 22 and 19 points, respectively. Greenlee also recorded 10 rebounds and 3 steals, while Rucker was credited with 8 steals, a block, and a steal.
The game brings Greenville's record 9-16 (4-12 SLIAC) to to end the season.
