EUREKA, Ill. – The Panthers showed little trouble putting away the competition on Saturday as they coasted to victories over both Eureka and Judson in convincing fashion. GC claimed the opening match against Eureka 9-0, and followed that performance with an 8-1 win over Judson. Greenville used the pair of wins to pull to 9-5 (2-2 SLIAC) on the season.
In singles play against SLIAC foe Eureka, Joe Newlin, Ian Wolf, Michael Read, Jonathan Allen, and Austin Young all claimed 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Doubles action proved to offer the same result with Newlin & Wolf taking their #1 doubles match 8-2, and both the #2 and #3 teams of Jesse Shaw & Todd Ganton and Allen & Young claimed their respective matches 8-0.
The second contest against Judson also showcased Greenville’s dominance. Joe Newlin led the Panthers in singles play with a hard-fought 7-6, 6-3 win in #1 singles over Judson’s Tyler Adland.
Doubles saw GC earn the 3-0 sweep with flights one through three winning by scores of 8-6, 8-4, 8-3.
Greenville Tennis will next head to Elsah, Ill. on Tuesday, April 12, and battle Principia College at 4:30 pm.
