Women's Soccer Gains 5-0 Win Over MacMurray

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The women's soccer team started conference play with a 5-0 win at MacMurray.

Sophomore Mindy Siebert (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) led the Lady Panthers with a hat trick on the day scoring in the fourth, 23rd, and 25th minutes.  Two of Siebert's goals were brilliant unassisted efforts with the third goal coming from the assist of senior Nikki Ziegemeier (St, Charles, Mo.).

Ziegemeier also added to the success with two goals in the 22nd and 28th minutes.  Her first goal was a solid strike from 20 yards over the MacMurray keeper. Greenville was later awarded a free kick when Ziegemeier stepped up to the challenge. With a perfectly struck ball, Ziegemeier beat the MacMurray keeper. The Lady Panthers would enter halftime with a 5-0 lead over MacMurray.

During the second half, many of the Lady Panthers had the opportunity to contribute to the win. The Lady Panthers controlled the possession with very few chances for MacMurray to score.

Freshman Heidi Koehl (Belleville, Ill.) was credited the win with sophomore Jenny Suszek (Alpena, Mich.) and freshman Amy Pointer (Granite City, Ill.) contributing to the win.

The team improved to 1-0 in conference play and 7-1-1 overall.
