CLEP Information

Students at Greenville College may attain credit for coursework through participation in the College Level Examination Program (CLEP). CLEP tests may be taken at Greenville College or at any educational institution participating in the CLEP program. Students who take tests at other institutions should have their scores sent directly to Greenville College.

In order to take a CLEP exam at GC, a pre-registration form must be completed. Pre-registration forms are available on-line by clicking here.

Testing dates will be arranged on an individual basis. All CLEP tests are administered on computer and require approximately 2 hours to complete.

Fees

An administration fee of $15.00 must be paid in the business office and the receipt must be presented at the time of the exam. On the day of the exam, $80.00 must be paid to CLEP by credit/debit card only.

A fee of $25.00 per credit hour may apply for placing credit by examination onto a transcript. If a student is enrolled in fewer credit hours than the maximum allowed in the tuition band (currently 17 hours), the student will be billed $25 per examination credit hour over the band.

General Policies

Credit earned by examination will be recorded on the transcript, but no grade is assigned. Credit earned by examination has no effect on the student’s grade point average.

A student may not secure credit by examination after auditing or receiving a failing grade in the corresponding course.

Credit by examination does not count toward the residency requirements of the college.

Credit earned by examination at another accredited college where the student was fully matriculated will be accepted for transfer to Greenville College on the same basis as other regularly earned credit.
