About Thomas Byrne

Tom Byrne is an adjunct instructor teaching guitar and bass at GC, having graduated from Webster University (St. Louis, MO) with both a Bachelor of Music in jazz performance (1994) and a Master of Music in jazz performance (1999); he held a GA in Jazz Guitar & Jazz Combos while pursuing his Master’s degree at Webster. He has studied with John Scofield, Gene Bertoncini, and Mick Goodrick.
Tom has been active as a performer and educator in the St. Louis region for over 30 years, having performed with the MUNY Orchestra, The St. Louis Symphony, numerous musical theatrical productions, and on many jazz, blues, and pop concerts and events throughout the years. He also plays electric bass and guitar with the Worship Band of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church. He currently teaches Jazz Guitar, Jazz Combos, and Guitar Ensemble at Webster University, where he has taught since 1998, and at Lewis and Clark Community College (Godfrey, IL), where he has taught since 2013
