Art Major

Art Major Overview

Art Majors at Greenville College are provided with an open environment where truth can be pursued personally and expressed creatively; where assumptions can be openly questioned and where an authentic faith can be developed. Courses have been designed to help you develop an intelligent appreciation of our heritage. Professors encourage you to develop high standards for aesthetic judgment and production, and you will be exposed to a broad range of courses while specializing in one area, such as painting, sculpture, art education, graphic design, or ceramics.

At Greenville, you will be taught by artists. By observing working artists grapple with ideas, materials, and processes, in addition to your classroom and studio instruction, you will gain competence in both traditional and experimental art. Your professors are interested not only in your artistic development, but in you and your career. As you interact with your professors both inside and outside the classrooms and studios, you can count on them to help you assess your career options and then to assist you in preparing for your goals. You will also have the opportunity to exhibit your artwork in local, state and regional competitions.
