Job Description:

To recruit and enroll incoming international students who are seeking an excellent Christian liberal arts education and assist in the day-to-day administration of the office.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognize that any activity related to the role and scope of the Admissions Office is a personal responsibility; mature conduct and professional work are expected at all times. This position requires that the person is actively participating in a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, Facebook communication, social bookmarking, commenting, etc. and is well-connected with the broader social media world. Therefore, Admissions counselors must take care as well to ensure that personal use of social media does not negatively impact the workplace, or the institution.

  • Oversee daily operations of international admissions to maintain quality of service to applicant including accurate and timely dissemination of applicable regulatory documents.
  • Review international admissions applications, render admissions decisions, monitor workflow of evaluation of academic credentials, and assist to determine scholarship eligibility.
  • Execute the strategies and tactics contained in the International Enrollment Management Marketing Plan focused on recruiting international students to Greenville University.
  • Coordinate and participate in activities designed to introduce prospective students, parents, and other constituents to Greenville University, including individual campus visits, Preview Days, and other special events; often involving weekends.
  • Maintain working knowledge of policies and procedures regarding visa issuance, students exchange regulations, customs and immigration enforcement regulations (SEVIS)and supports adherence to university standards and practices. This may include serving as a DSO SEVIS advisor.
  • Study, understand and communicate institutional distinctiveness, including details about how to apply, financial aid as well as curricular and co-curricular opportunities.
  • Host and interview prospective students on and off campus.
  • Identify prospect pool, follow-up in person or by phone, mail, or e-mail, and encourage prospective students through the application, acceptance, financial aid, deposit, scheduling, and registration processes.
  • Maintain consistent phone contact with prospective students and families; this often means attempting 150 phone contacts each week and spending 15 to 20 hours on the phone each week.  Some evening calling is expected each week.
  • Serve as Liaison for department of International Affairs with International agents.
  • This position is responsible for increasing the University's brand awareness, driving internet traffic, and increasing social media activity within an assigned territory. You are expected to be able to embrace social media technology and be the “personal touch” online and are therefore expected to leverage social networks to strengthen and create relationships with existing prospective students online.
  • Some travel with some heavy lifting may be required.

Required Skills:

  • Outstanding people skills.with observable leadership experience.
  • Effective communication skills, both spoken and written; must be able to speak clearly and be understood over the telephone.
  • Ability and desire to work effectively in a challenging, goal-oriented sales environment.
  • Creative and enthusiastic.
  • Computer skills; especially Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • An understanding of how to responsibly utilize Social Media in a work environment.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic.  Ability and desire to work effectively in a challenging, goal-oriented sales environement.
  • Ability to manage time well on a varying work schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of a second language.

Education or Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
