Job Description:

Greenville College is seeking a dynamic early-career faculty member to become a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of early childhood education serving our thriving teacher education preparation programs.  The appointment will begin August 16, 2013.
We are seeking a potential colleague who:

  • Is dedicated to both undergraduate and graduate teaching. 
  • Is committed to serve as a role model for students within an academic community with a distinctively Christian mission. 
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to liberal arts education.
  • Holds an earned doctorate (ABD considered).
  • Has certification in Early Childhood Education.
  • Holds K-12 teacher certification.
  • Has a record of excellent teaching.
  • Demonstrates a cooperative, collegial spirit. 
  • Is willing to teach at off-site locations.
  • Has experience in developing online courses and teaching online.

Key Responsibilities:

The faculty position would consist of teaching courses on campus in Early Childhood as well as in the Master of Arts Teaching, Master of Arts in Education, and/or Undergraduate Teacher Education Partnership (UTEP) programs. Additional responsibilities normally expected of a full-time faculty member include committee work; advising students; regular participation in efforts of recruitment, retention, and other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs. If Appointee holds a less-than-full-time teaching load, Appointee will likely be asked to perform other professional duties.

Compensation:

Salary is based on academic preparation and years of relevant experience. The College also provides a generous benefits package that includes health and disability insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:

We are seeking a dynamic faculty member committed to Christian Higher Education in a liberal arts context. This individual should hold a certification in Early Childhood and a terminal degree in Education (consideration will be given to candidates who are in the final stages of their degree program and have a clear plan for completion). Master's-level teaching experience is preferred.

Candidates must be passionate about teaching and preparing excellent educators and committed to serving as a role model for students within a Christian academic community. The School of Education:
The School of Education has more than 550 students enrolled in a traditional undergraduate program, three partnership programs, MAE and MAT programs.  The school offers majors in elementary, special, early childhood, physical, music, and seven additional secondary programs. The School also partners with community colleges and universities that do not offer 4-year teacher education programs to provide the experiences and course work necessary to earn a bachelor's degree and licensure to teach in the State of Illinois. These Undergraduate Teacher Education Partnership (UTEP) programs are offered at Kaskaskia College (Centralia, IL), Lewis and Clark Community College (Godfrey, IL), Lincoln Christian University (Lincoln, IL), and Southwestern Illinois College (Belleville, IL). The school was accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education with no weaknesses (using NCATE standards) and serves as a model for other teacher education programs in the state of Illinois.
