Job Description:

Greenville University is seeking a dynamic faculty member to become a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor serving our thriving graduate education programs.  The appointment will begin Spring 2018.

  • Has a willingness to work with online students.
  • Demonstrates a cooperative, collegial spirit. 
  • Has experience in developing online courses and teaching online.
  • Is motivated to monitor and grow a graduate online program.
  • Holds advanced degree or has extensive experience in special education preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

The specific teaching assignment for this position will be at the graduate level and the successful candidate will be able to assume both generalist and specialized teaching responsibilities in the Master of Arts in Education program that includes emphases in Special Education, Coaching, Curriculum and Instruction, Reading, and ESL, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching (Elementary Licensure).  This position includes responsibilities of oversight and growth of the program. Additional responsibilities normally expected of a full-time faculty member include committee work; advising students; regular participation in efforts of recruitment, retention, and other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION: The School of Education (SOE) has more than 300 students enrolled in a traditional undergraduate program, four partnership programs, MAT, and MAE programs.  The school offers majors in elementary education, special education, early childhood education, physical education, music education, and seven additional secondary education programs. The SOE also partners with community colleges and universities that do not offer 4-year teacher education programs to provide the experiences and course work necessary to earn a bachelor's degree and licensure to teach in the State of Illinois. The SOE was accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education with no weaknesses (using NCATE standards) and serves as a model for other teacher education programs in the state of Illinois. The SOE also has national TEAC accreditation.

Salary is based on academic preparation and years of relevant experience. The University also provides a generous benefits package that includes health and disability insurance.

We are seeking a dynamic faculty member committed to Christian Higher Education in a liberal arts context. This individual should hold an earned doctorate in Education (ABD considered). Teaching experience at the Master's level is preferred.
