Job Description:

Greenville College is seeking a full-time Professor to teach in the Social Work program and direct the Field Education Placement for Social Work majors. The start date will be fall of 2017. 

School of Professional Studies:  Along with the Department of Social Work and Criminal Justice, the School of Professional Studies is the home to programs in Digital Media, Management, Organizational Leadership, and Sport and Kinesiology.

Greenville College: The College is located 50 miles east of St. Louis in an attractive residential community of approximately 7,000 people.  Greenville was founded in 1892 and has a rich heritage of affiliation with the Free Methodist Church, yet draws students from 40+ denominations. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include oversight to the Social Work Practicum/Field Education component of the BSW program; this will involve the overall direction and management of field education, which encompasses: securing and approving agency field sites and supervisors; placement of students in agencies; planning and collaboration with faculty in the delivery of the student practicum; and the preparation of field manuals, orientations, and evaluation tools for field instructors and students.

Primary teaching responsibilities are in Social Work. Faculty member responsibilities include student advising and regular service on college governance committees. The candidate will teach at our main campus in Greenville, online and, potentially, at an offsite location in the region.  The standard teaching load for this position is 9 credit hours per semester. There is a 3-credit load release of administration.

Compensation:

Salary is based on academic background and experience. Preferred Qualifications:

We are seeking a dynamic faculty member committed to professional education in a liberal arts context.  An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, with two years post-MSW practice experience is required; a candidate with doctoral training is preferred. Ideally, the candidate will have at least minimal experience in the Criminal Justice field as well.

The candidate must have a vibrant Christian faith and be dedicated to teaching and advising students in a Christian academic community.   The candidate must be able to demonstrate how her/his faith commitment is lived out in the context of Social Work education.   We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and have demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of engagement and success for underrepresented students within higher education.
